The last ride I was on I was keeping up with guys half my age riding a Raptor 700 and a Suzuki 450. That was way too fast for comfort so I'm not complaining about how fast or slow my quad is. I would like to know which quad completely stock is the fastest. Not that I would ever buy it, I'm just curious. I'm not interested if what quad with modifications is the fastest. They can all be made faster than stock.

Which is fastest? After 3 broken tail lights, I'd like to know who has the best brakes and let them ride behind me.

We went riding this weekend, never broke 25 mph. Not that long ago it would of been nothing slower than mach 1.

I would guess completely stock that the Suzuki Quadzilla was the fastest quad ever. 500cc 2 stroke that just screams. The Yamaha Banshee is probably a close 2nd. The new 450 class machines are probably nipping at both of their tails, along with the Raptor 700. If you have any of these machines, you have a very fast quad. Don't forget about some of the 1000cc 4x4 quads, they're very fast too. The new turbo Maverick and Rzr side by sides are proably about as fast as well.

The trails here are 30mph tops if you do not want to go off them and break something.

30 mph is still pretty fast at times. I've seen a lot of trails like that. Torque is more important than speed. The ability to accelerate quickly to conquer a steep hill is a good asset. Especially to be able to do it in high range so you don't have to constantly shift back and forth from high range to low range and then back to high range when you need more speed. That is one advantage the semi-auto quads have over cvt, you can shift on the fly. Cvt auto requires you to come to a complete stop to go from low to high or vice versa. You'd think by now someone would be able to build a cvt that would allow you to shift from high to low or back without stopping. I guess you just can't make a cvt do that, only a dual-clutch auto that has no belt can do that.

All that speed, and no where to use it when trail riding. I ride a Raptor 700, and for the longest time never saw 5th gear. That is why I just changed up my gearing so I can put those horses to use on the lower end. I am a tree dodger, not a sand slinger. I could care less about top speed, or bypassing a rev limit.

Okay. I officially don't care anymore. Well, I may be slightly curious. Just slightly.
