buying quads?
SaveTheDesert,
I think you got it right from the start. The 250ex is a perfect choice, low maintinance, reliable, and proven. Your son will be able to stretch his legs on it for a while till he gets comfortable and skilled.
For you, get the 400ex.....for all the same reasons. These bikes are bulletproof, and will give you years of service or re-sell value. I truly believe the 400ex (dollar for dollar) is the best money spent. It is a no head-aches bike, and I would buy another.
After a couple years, hand it to the kid,,,,,,who will by then have conquered the 250ex.
$5000 out the door, would be a good fair dealer price on a new 400ex,,,,,Im not sure about a 250. ( I have been searching recently for a 400ex for a friend, so I thought Id pass the info along)
good luck, and dont forget to factor all the safety gear into the purchase price.....

If your really scared about him on a trail blazer 250, a 250ex would be better than a z400, you know if he did have a z400, he would get it topped out the first chance he could get, i know i would, and im only 15 and i got my banshee 85 mph on a public road, but that was before i got it bored
