that z will never accel like that 300 nor will it touch it on top end, thats why people like me and dualsporter buy them. plus there is no substitute for a two-stroke. its worth the extra money and you get better package.

 

Why is it worth the extra money.It has a lot less engine parts.It should be cheaper then a 4 stroke.With the spair 2700 dollars you could make the z 400 a lot faster.

 

i could never spend 7700 on a quad when they would buy you a really nice car or a down payment on a home.

The 5000 i paid for my z400 was hard enough to part with..considering i sold 2 atvs to get it.

Never said the z400 would catch it in a drag race, but on the tracka nd 2700 to put into handling mods with a good rider a z400 can do more than keep up

 

Ide buy one if I were to win the lotto. But otherwise they are way too many $s for me.

 

for many it is out of thier price range and i'll agree that if you don't care about having a wider machine with fully adjustable suspension and have no need for the power... why bother. but for anyone who has started modifying a Z for racing, you will hit the $7000+ total invested range very fast... and still not even be close to what the Gas Gas already is.

i too got addicted to 2-stroke power by my suzuki, and it took a better 2-stoke machine to take me off of it.(plus, i refuse to buy a honda quad)
today i eliminated the lighting system wiring harness, lights, horn, speedo & trip computer. I will soon take off the lighting coils & associated flywheel magnets & weight (about 13 ounces).. when i do that, this thing is gonna get scary. i'm not sure how much total weight i'll be taking off, but when i'm done i'll weigh it full of fluids to see where i'm at.

 

are you talking bout your suzuki or gas gas when you said you took off flywheel weight.

 

all that stuff i took off the gasgas, i haven't been working on my LT lately... i gotta tinker on the new toy for a while!

you can take 13 ounces off the flywheel by just removing one part & putting the nut back on. if i like the results, i'll get a plastic stator cover, a different nut & different shifter to fit it better. alltogether it'll take off a few pounds.

 

what could i do to my LT'S flywheel and stator? could i take mine off? i dont even have my headlight on.

 

check out gt thunder they have a gas gas dyno chart 42.7 hp stock at the wheels

 

huedogg- you can't do that as easy on a LT, they require machining of the flywheel to remeve weight... and i can bet you won't take off anywhere near that much.
