Quadracer 250 Problem (help!)

I have an 88 Quadracer 250 and i recently rebuilt the top end and whenever i start it up it idles VERY high and when i pull in the clutch it winds out and sometimes it idles so high that the quad drives itself it is a very annoying problem and i would appreciate any help.

yes ive tried everything i was thinking it could be electrical or something i read somewhere also that it could have something to do with the head gasket but i have no idea whats going on with it if you think of anything else please reply

Shaggy - sounds like you have an air leak somewhere. Just a suggestion, but check your reed cage gasket and boot. Might be a hole there or somewhere else. I am assuming it idled OK before the top end?

Yep, think it could have something to do with having the wrong head gasket because now that i look at it it dosent look like the right one?

Also make sure to check the Air Screw, sometimes they can vibrate loose and fall out causing the revving you mentioned. If its in place, screw it all the way in then back it out 1 1/2 turns. This should give you a starting point for further adjustment. If this aint it, it definitely could be a leaking gasket causing a lean condition. Be on the lookout, Quadracers are notorious for blowing cylinder base gaskets just beneath the reed cage at the base of the cylinder.
