Default 85/86 to 87-92....What are the differences

I was just wondering what the differences were between the various years of the quadracer. i have an 85 tricked out for racing (a-arms, pep shocks, durablue, fmf, and a lot more), but now i'm having problems with my frame and swingarm cracking. i have heard that it is possible to switch the swingarms between the years, you just the the square style carrier for the new one. and in my investigation, i believe that it is also possible to use my axle in the 87-92 housing, and then just use my sprocket and rotor hubs also. the only thing believe i'm not sure about is if my shock linkage will be compatible with the newer swingarm. I was also wondering if it is possible to put an 87-92 jug onto the 85/86 quad and make a pipe work with the frame or make mine work. i like the powervalves added power in the newer quad. let me know what you guys know about this, and also if there is any other interchangeable parts for the years (i may need a radiator, footpegs, and sidecase)

I'd suggest the sandblast approach if all the moving parts are gone, you DONT want that sand getting in any bearings, etc. The suspension linkage is TOTALLY different for 90-92, but a87-89 might work. Dunno about the jug, Im pretty sure the piston stroke is a little different between the years, but I'm no expert. Rad and foot pegs are likely the same, but the side cases are not (I think).

Happy hunting!

Ok differences
85-86 engines are totally different from the 87s and 88+. WHY, because they don't have the exhaust valve, and they aren't 6 speeds only 5. The only thing that is the same are the carbs only jetted different and the '85 I heard came with a 32mm carb. The reed cages are also different 85-86s have the reeds inside while the 87+ have the reeds external. The 87s are somewhat a loner engine because the reedcage is larger... I THINK, but an 88+ jug should just bolt right on with minor mods and another I THINK.

Chassis wise, The 85-86 front top shock mounts are lower than the 87+ mounts. The 85 and 86s came with a round style carrier swingarm while the 87+ came with the box(JUNK) type style carrier swingarm like on the Z400s, but they will interchange from the '85s to the '90s. The 91 and 92s had a different linkage setup but it is better than the rocker pivot design that is on the 85-90s.

GO to this link------>Hsd Racing and go to the Suzuki section.
Mark is the guy to talk to, in my opinion he the best man to go to for LT chassis mods and parts.

If you want to see the differences between each quadracer got albaaction.com and go to the microfiche and compare.
Hope this helps ya.
