Default 99' LTA-500F Overheating?! Help!

Hey all,
I have a 1999 Suzuki LTA-500F, the automatic 500 4x4. The last two times I have been out on the trails after about 2 miles the temperature light will come on and the electric cooling fan will run constantly. If shut off for about 10 minutes and allowed to cool it will start without the light but once it heats back up the light will come on again. The first time it happened I got to looking at it and found the 1 1/2 black hose between the air cleaner and the carb had come off on one side and assumed fixing that would cure the problem... I at the time assumed it was getting too much air and running lean. Yet today it happened again. I need to know what i should look for? What would cause it to overheat? ANy ideas? Thanks in Advance

Justin

It has about 550 miles on it

Default 99' LTA-500F Overheating?! Help!

I have a 2001 and it runs a little hot if I'm going slow but it has never actually overheated. The dealer said not to worry about it unless it started to boil over. Mine does it most often if I am climbing slow and haven't put it in low range. The fan usually runs for a minute or two then kicks back off. Just a thought check and make sure that the fins on the radiator aren't bent up or plugged up with dried dirt. Mud on my radiator causes it get hot alot quicker, I make sure and clean it off witha power washer or the sprayer at the car wash.

Check you radiator for mud in the fins. I do alot of mud riding and that has happen to me. You will have to remove the front rack and plastic to get to it. Also drain you coolant and run engine ice you can get it from (www.denniskirk.com).
