if you could do anything to mod your new z250 what would it be

Surfus, I'm letting the engine guy figure all that stuff out. He said he had it all figured out and could do it. And the one thing we are worried about is the tranny, thats gonna be the weak link definately. The guy has 25 years of experiance on other engines, and I have seen the stuff he has done in the past. He hasn't done any 4-wheeler engines, but he has done snowmobiles, so for right now, all I can do it believe what he tells me. He said its gonna be bada$$ when he gets done with him, so all I can do is give him the engine, let him do what he has to do, and then when I get it back hang on for the ride.

SnaiqIyz, If you read what I said b/4 the local dealer talked my dad out of getting me the Z400. That is what I had been wanting ever since it came out. He talked my dad into believing the Z250 was definately more suited for me (yeah right), so we waited 6 months for it to come out, and as soon as the dealer called and said it was in my dad went and picked it up. I guess I can't complain, its better than that lowsy 160 I was stuck on for 4 years.

lol i wanna see a z250 keep up with a z 400 ... too bad im never gonna unless you put a lot of money in that engine which is pointless cause then you would have too beef up the tranny and get a new suspension for it cause it wont take it. and for crying out loud its a shaft drive the only way to change the gearing is to put on bigger tires..... i dont think you will ever get that thing over 60-65 and thats giving you quite a bit.

I'd like to see a Z250 keep up with a Z400 too, thats why I'm trying it. I can handle paying to beef up the tranny. The work on the engine is gonna be dirt cheap, b/c if the thing does kick a$$ when we get it done I am letting the guy use it in a promotional thing. And the thing goes 54mph now, modify the airbox, add a jetkit, and full yoshi pipe and it could probably do almost 60 then.

I've been thinking about what everybody has said about me being nuts thinking I can do all that stuff to my Z250. And I want YOUR opinion on what I should do. How much do you think it could be bored out too? What other mods should I do to the engine, carb., airbox etc...???? I have about $1000 to spend.
Maybe the guy that was gonna do my engine work doesn't know how to do a 4-wheeler engine. After all even snowmobiles are alot different than quads, no transmission, just 4 pulleys, and two belts connecting the engine to the track so you wouldn't have to worry about a tranny handling the power. So I was thinking I should get a second opinion, so have at it guys.
And Kracker, Roosthrower, and Mahnaster, unless you have something to say that is worth reading, don't bother posting your opinion.

All I have to say is a 4 stroke is a lot different than a 2 stroke because you have a valve Train to deal with.
2 strokes have reed valves to let air, fuel and exhaust in and out.
4 strokes have 2 valves, exhaust and intake. If you add displacement you have to make the valves to open up more so more air and fuel can fill up and exhaust the larger chamber. Other wise the larger displacement will not make much of a difference.
A cam is what is needed and you can not just go out and buy any ole cam somewhere.
I know I seen Cams for sale for the z400 but I have not seen any for the z250
You are best to search or wait for a big bore kit that included the BBR Aluminum Cylinder ,High Compression Piston,Rings,Pin,Gaskets, and High performance camshaft & bearings that are designed for that engine.

Thanks for that surfus, I just hope there is a big bore kit out soon. I need to have my quad done b/4 next March. That will be my first GNCC race in Morganton.
And also I was wondering why I could get an extra 100cc out of my engine. Yesterday I saw a 350 kit for a 250X. I was just curious, b/c roosthrower said there was no way.

roosterthrower didnt this kid already explain to u, u are really asking for more arnt u, everybody this is not my words but it sure makes sence
Didn't I already see this discussion a few weeks ago? Oh yeah, now I remember, roostthrower started it, got shut down, threw a tantrim, and gave up. Why people insist on comparing a 200 2-stroke to 250 4-stroke is beyond me. Isn't it a general rule of thumb that a 4-stroke of 2x the cc of a 2-stroke is competitive? That's why 250f's race in the 125cc div. and 450f's race in the 250cc div., right? So, based on that, let's compare a blaster and a z400. Or at least a blaster and a warrior. Either way, it's closer to the 200 2-stroke level of competition. But wait, the blaster can't compete stock with either of them cuz it's a P.O.S. for what it is. Yamaha could put a little R&D into the blaster and make an awesome little racing machine, but unfortunately 2-strokes are being phased out so they won't. Too bad, so sad, get over it and next time someone wants to compare the blaster to a 4-stroke try picking on someone your own size you bully. Or are you chicken?! Warrior 65mph stock, Z400 70mph stock, so step on up and get smoked!
