The ex is a waste of time. For the money, the Z is FAR superior to the EX. The Z iin my opinion is the best trail quad out, as long as thats not trail RACING. If speed is your thing, the YFZ is alot faster than the Z, and with just a couple of mods, will be untouchable in the desert, in the woods, or on the MX track. However, the yfz will be a little rough at slow speeds, and the gearing is extremely tall. The faster you go, the better it works, and for racing, the gearing is perfect. If your not planning on racing, get the Z.

now to give a lil espect to the ex... its a great machine all it lacks is liquid cooling ur in the desert i wouldnt think u would need reverse all that much... the ex in stock trim will lose to a z400 everyone knows that but the ex is a very competitive machine... ive been racing mine for about the past 3 years starting when it was completly stock to right now were ive dumped way to much money into it. its been very reliable even with the 440 kit installed and have hardly had any problems out of it... yeah the technalogy used to make this engine is about 10 years old... so what its still a good machine... in stock form its very competitve agaisnt a z400 the only diffrence is the top speed... buy what you think ud be the best on.. also u mite want to look into buying a predator there fast bikes but could be better without the funky looking plastic.. i can get a brand new predator at the dealer for $5550 compared to a z400, 400ex for $5600 and the new yamaha 450 for around $6900.. the predator is a real good quad for the price and is as race ready as the yfz450

Id go with th yfz, even though I love Suzuki, they really rip and that candy apple frame and white plastic looks awsome. Downfalls expensive and no reverse, but they are so light and handle good I think you could donut out of tight spots. The Z400 are a very solid trail quad. Im sorry Honda guys but Ex are dinosaurs lets engineer something new.

Hey Im sorry I offended you, I never said they werent, I just complimented them on being a good trail quad. Some people have to turn every forum into a fistfight. Sorry, to hurt your feelings agin but from what the rumors are the YFZ is gonna tear up on the MX track.

so basically ure sayin in ure first paragraph that the yfz is the "race ready" quad of the year? excuse me but i believe that no quad is race ready until u put mods on it. the yfz could def use some mods. how come before the yfz was made, there was no such thing as putting too much money into a quad? i personally think that the yfz is just as plain out of the box as the Z, the EX, pred...etc. my point is that u have to put as much mods as u have to on the Z, as the yfz. AND BY THE WAY...THE Z400 IS AN EXCELLENT MX BIKE. i race it myself.
