shaving your head is the cheapest way to increase hp, i run about 190 lbs of compression. It costs like 50 bucs and a new head gasket. Im sure the people you send it to will know how much to take off to give you the compression you want. THe motor may be leaking through the pipe o-ring not the gasket but i dont know for sure.

piston skirts are the only diff. combustion chambers are diff, but The piston will work. 87 half circle in piston skirt , 88 no half circle. take off .040. make sure your head gasket is 80 over it wont burn the fuel good as it could.

Ok, heres what is going on, the stock ring gap is .22 in and the wear limit is .17 past that so the wear limit is .39, mine is 41, so this is why i have crappy compression, and i guess there is no diff in the piston u can use pro lite in the 87, im getting the cylinder resleeved so that will solve all my problems, also for all u 87 motor guys CHECK THIS OUT http://www.geocities.com/kiwi_craig/LTengdata.htm
this will answer all 87 questions better than i can
thank for all the help!!!!!
