COOL HEAD - WHAT SIZE DOME??
#1
i had my zilla run on the dino this week as i was woried the jetting may be wrong for the bike, it was shipped from the usa to the uk and our fuell is a little different (not just expensive )
anyway its hp was reported as being 47.8hp
this seems a little low to me, i bought the quad with a pro design cool head installed with a 62cc dome im wondering if this is too big and im not getting enough compression, i believe different dome sizes are available, do they increase power by going smaller
can ayone advise the best size,
zillas are rare overhere in the uk and there are no "zilla experts"

UK, that # sounds pretty close to stock, but you can't really depend on a dyno #... it's merely a baseline for modifications/tuning as you'll get 10 different results from 10 different dyno's...
For some reason, I remember the stock head as being 63cc's???, so if your cool head is 62, you won't see much difference in compression. The best way to tell where you're at, is do a compression test, with a good qulity gauge (One that has the same length threaded adapter as the spark plug for accurate results)
A good target is 180 psi on a healthy motor. It is very wise to run high octane fuel when reaching this level (100+ octane) because these motors are prone to detonation... even in stock form.
Detonation kills!
Good luck

thanks for that, yeah the guy said there not 100 accurate and if it was a single wheel with a smooth tire it would show more, the zillas more than a handfull for me at the mo cos its the first and only quad ive ever ridden, been thinking of getting a paul turner kit from duncan racing in the future so i guess that will get me breaking the 50hp barrier when im ready
standard pump fuel in the uk is 95octain
you can get 98 octain but it has detergents and additives that im not sure would be compatable with the mixer oil,
i think ill take your advise and look in to some high octain racing fuels
