I have a 1987 Suzuki LT230S. I recently brke the engine cover on the left side, next to the clutch. I need a new one, but I can't find a site that sells it. Do you know where I can buy this? I need a new seal too.

You could try here. Their site is partially down right now but you can still access their parts diagrams and order by phone.

I'm not sure of what’s what with all those 230/250 4 stroke Suzukis they made so I dont know if it would fit. You just need the cover unless the cases themselves are broken. Do you have all the pieces? I had the cover on my 86 LT230 Quadsport welded up for 40$ locally. Also, you might check Ebay.

Just the metal outside. So just the cover I guess. But, no I don't have all the pieces. I have to, but theres still a little hole. Its magnesium anyways, so I'm pretty sure it can't be welded.

The 1987 LT230 was called a LT230EH, so yes it will work. You'll want the magneto cover because that's on the left side. For a gasket you can get one from Alba's website along with the magneto cover. The cover and gasket will cost you around $95. Go to Alba and then click on the left side for their parts finder and select your bike.

Thanks.
Just to make sure:
This is the one, right?
Then COVER, MAGNETO for $86.05 and the gaskey for $0.85? What exactly is the gasket? The seal?

Yes, Magneto cover, and the gasket (#19 in diagram) that goes between it and the case. If all you broke was the magneto cover, then all you need is a new cover and a gasket. You asked what the difference was between a gasket and a seal. When I think of a gasket, it's made out of a fiber or metal material and is used in places like your bottom gasket, head gasket, case cover gaskets, etc. Seals are o-rings or other seals made out of rubber. Like your front wheel bearings, a-arms, and swingarm have the bearings and then seals to protect them from dirt, etc.
