Case saver for LT250R
#1
After checking with Nac's, Graydon proline, K & K, DG, and James lucky, I don't think anyone makes a case saver for LT's (much less my 86). I think I can make one but I'm not sure how they are supposed to fit. Does it sit in between the case and the sprocket or lined up with the the teeth of the sprocket so that the chain rollers squeeze in between sprocket and case saver? If anyone has pictures of their savers, please post them. Also, if the saver is lined up with the sprocket teeth, how much clearance should there be between the sprocket and the case saver?

Dude u can make one, but its beter to have one right from suz. it should sit right in the middle of your chain.Go to ronnies.com and their oem list, get the part number for the saver and the guard, go get 2 40mm bolts with 1.25 pitch from your hardware store, and go to your dealer to get the suz parts ordered. In 4 days ur done.

I noticed that after I started the thread. I even found my original one in a box with some old parts but I need to make one anyway cause my front `sprocket is a 14 and is alot taller than the stock 12. Having the original makes fabricating one to go with my sprocket much easier. Thanks for the response, though.

The chain just slightly rubs the stock case saver. My 14 is 1/2" larger in diameter than the 12. I'm going to make a case saver identical to the stocker, but with the surface that faces the chain 1/4" back so the clearance is the same as it was stock.

I put on 18" trekkers and needed to regain alot of top. I took off the stock case saver when I put on the 14 and have been running without it ever since. Now I've got 20" bandits and at first I thought I should switch to a 13 to get more bottom end. But after rebuilding the engine and switching to an fmf turbine core silencer the bike has alot more low end so I think I'm going to keep the 14 so I can keep up with my larger displacement riding buddies on dirt roads.

i just finished the motor on my bike and orderd 18 inch shredders so i was wondering if i should go with a 14 or 13 cause i know the 12 will rev out way to fast with those 18 on there.so what mods have you done to your 86?i had the cylinder bored 40 over and had the head shaved 20mm with new reeds and i went with the fatty pipe and the turbine core silencer.i know you live in a different elavation than me but what main jet size did you go with?

My bike has a k&n w/ outerwear and no lid on airbox, klemm pipe w/ fmf turbine core silencer, bored .020 over and head shaved .020. I saw your other post and your bike has about the same mods as mine. I've got a 230 main and 50 pilot jet in there. I also moved the circlip on the needle up one notch. Tony Doukas, who rebuilt it, told me what sizes to use after I told him my setup, so yours should be the same. At first I thought I was a little rich 'cause it would kind of bog in the middle. Also, I was running 24:1 cause it was the first five gallons. Now that I'm running 32:1 the jetting is right on. Did you rebuild your carb? It also cleared up alot after I ran it wide open for a while.
I think the 14/42 is pretty good. It's got enough low end to power wheelie 1st and 2nd and enough top to keep up with a stock raptor.
