Can u polish the motor on lt250r

Default Can u polish the motor on lt250r

Can you polish the aluminum to shine like chrome??? Its A 92 lt 250r motor. Whats needed and Is it a pain to do??? any info would help.

Some people try but it doesnt look very well. It takes alot of upkeep to. Some people get theres chromed. I took mine to work and blasted it with plastic bead. I think it looks good this way. I can send you a pic if u want .

Yes you can polish it. Use paint stripper to get the paint off then start your polishing (sanding) process. Get your supplies here... http://www.bright-works.com/ oh and get the video too, its worth it.

A very respected mechanic once told me this after I asked the same question:

Chroming and/or polishing an engine will result in a decrease of displacement of heat. The rough pitting of the metalic compunds actually helps to cool the engine especially on the cylinder and head.
A hotter running engine, even if just a few degrees, will mean more frequent rebulds and less torque. You will get maximum heat reduction performance by design by just keeping the engine clean and free of oil residues.
Pretty bikes don't win races.
