Weight. Remember the Japanese have to keep it under, or near 600 lbs. Saving weight in the motor means the rest of the machine doesn't suffer. DOHC, fuel injection and a counter balancer will more than make up for the lack of a second cylinder. Improved Gas mileage, throttle response, and ability to change elevation easily without re-jetting are going to put the new KingQuad in a class by itself.

Counter balancers are extremely efficient. Original research done by Mitsubushi, who invented the counter balancer (and still holds all the patents) enabling inline 4 cylinder car engines to exceed 2 liters without turning into washing machines on the spin cycle, found that the decreased amount of friction by having fewer cylinders outweighed the benefits of adding cylinders to achieve a balanced motor.

A V-twin is a very nice configuration, especially a 90 degree V. But a single cylinder with a counter balancer can be smoother than any V-twin without a balancer. An inline twin, like the Polaris, is pretty worthless in terms of improved performance, especially with only two valves per cylinder, single carb etc.
The Polaris twin is an okay motor, but nothing to write home about...it is a study in adding performance by adding cylinders, and nothing else.

Double Overhead Cams, a four valve head and fuel injection is what performance is all about.

So I say, "Bring on the KingQuad".

HEY everybody Fuel Injection sounds DAMN good to me!!! If Suzuki can get this baby out in time, Suzuki might become a lil more popular than they are. If they make a Big Bore Fuel Injection with IRS then Suzuki will kick *** for a lil while.

Hey Suzuki riders, I'm not sure if I like the twin peaks yet. I thought it would look more sporty. I think the vinson looks better. Have you guys seen the vinson in black? I don't like it. What do you think?

They really should have changed that ugly bar set up, clearly the ugliest look of any sport utility. It needs a light on the bars anyhow.
The 700 single would be a far better idea, smaller, lighter, less costly to build, fewer parts to go bad, big time torque, a better set up all the way around. Throw fuel injection on it and they’ll be selling me one for sure. I’ve been waiting for a big bore utility worth selling my Sportsman to get, that sounds like a winner to me.

there is no way a single cylinder 700 can out perform a 90* v-twin 700cc. A V-twin has proven itself over and over in motorcycle drag racing by beating those 4 cylinder Jap bikes in the quarter mile. A single 700cc will take forever to make rpms compared to a V-twin and torque should go to the V-twin also. Yammie has a single 660cc that is no match for Kawies V-twin 650. They should stick with the V-twin design and concept, it has much more potential. Besides, weight isn't an object because Kawie has kept their Twin right at 600 lbs.

The fat pig 700 V-Twin is why the KFX700 got its azz handed to it in every race I’ve ever seen. That lead sled KFX700 is 118 POUNDS heaver then the Raptor, MY GOD, 118 POUNDS.
P I G
a quad with two 350 single engines on it, or a
700 single with fuel injection,
you're kidding,
right?

I dunno cop, the P650 and Grizz are not worlds apart.
Grizz has the advandage on the low and top end. But P650 has the killer mid-range hit.

weight will be an issue if it has IRS, it adds like 30-50 or something like that. thats why no japaneese ATV has a V-twin and IRS, it would be over 605 lbs.

700 EFI Single DOHC Vs. 700 V-Twin SOHC curberation.
If this is what in fact is the motor config will be, the EFI 700 would be better every condition.

If Suzuki turned down the V-Force they must want to put the 700 EFI motor in a sport chasis. If they developed a EFI system they must want to use it in more than one bike. They just better tie the 700 EFI to a manual shift and clutch, not a CVT, like the V-force.

Hopefully Suzuki will make the sport model lighter than that of the V-Force. More power + Less Weight = fun!

The KFX700 would be a complete joke in a real race on a track,
I’m talking about the sand races I’ve been in and seen at Silver Lake and the high traction races I’ve seen and been in at the Bad Lands.
Not sure what else was done to the KFX other then the aftermarket pipes they had, but they all got spanked by the Raptors. The KFX700s would usually get a slight jump off the line but the Raptors would quickly pass them with ease. Just stating what I saw.
My KTM450 single is well over 40 horse stock. Build the same motor as a 700 EFI and your looking at probably 65 horse from a light single. Why in the world would you want a big heavy Prarie engine making 40 horse?

All the manufactures have a big heavy expensive slow 4X4 now, been there done that.
I want a lighter better handling 4X4 with more power.
I’m glad to here Suzuki is going for new and exciting,
Not just bigger, heavier, and slower.
I want a fun quad, not a small Jeep.
