I believe there is a flat head screw on the shifter side of the motor, that is on an angle. Look for that and try turning it slightly, it shouldn't take a much of an adjustment. As for the shifting it depends on what happened when he crashed. Did the shifter itself take any damage? Maybe he stomped on it. Something may have gotten knocked out of alignment in the trans.

its possible that all that happened is the peg got bent up restricting the shift lever to go all the way down. i am just thinking about the worst it could be and getting ppls opinions. i havent really gotten a chance to look at it good, its been raining for a couple days strait.
