hi i have a zilla 500. 1988 and yes my book also says 20:1
its a fail safe mix . but with todays oil like the other posts say. have come a long way.. heh want a treat try 100 octane race fuel with a racing oil at 32:1 and hold on crispness like you never seen . try it you will never go back to regular gasoline... just my 2 cents buddy

Actually, I run 20:1 in my Quadracers. Even if I ran expensive oils, I still would. More lubrication is always better. Unless you are drag racing for money on a serious race machine, you should use as much oil as you can without fouling plugs or causing an objectional amount of smoke.

Most people think "I can run less oil because it lubricates better than the older oils" I think " If this new oil really does lubricate better, then I will use the same amount and my pistons/rings will last longer due to better lubrication".

Even if the cost of oil overall exceeds the cost of using less and replacing a piston more often I would still use more oil because I hate having my quad down when I could be riding.

BTW- I run quicksilver oil from Wal-Mart at 7$ a gallon. I ran my 86 LT250 on it at 20:1 with 87-octane fuel and a shaved head every weekend for 9 months and the piston/rings and cylinder are still like new. I also have outboard motors that have been running on the same brand of oil at 50:1 for years with no problem.

Dealers and shops tell me to run low ratios and high $ oils, but experience tells me the opposite. Keep in mind that 90% of dealers and their employees are idiots and prove it all the time. The other 10% will likely tell you the same thing to avoid arguing and get more of your money.

Youll be fine at 32:1. 20:1 is wastful, and you wont go through piustons

I'm with you on this one Tom. Stickin with 20:1. But, from what I have read and heard, is that the gas actually keeps the motor cool. Now, with that said. Wouldn't running less oil keep the motor a bit cooler?

32:1 is perfectly fine. i use torko synthetic race oil and 100 octane race fuel.

if i use 87 octane my motor pings at wide open throttle. i ride with a few banshies we all run the same mix 32:1

just my opinion. as for outboard motor oil? hmmm not the oil i would use to mix.... i know its cheap but...

cheap oil isnt good and good oil isnt cheap

The owners manual on the banshee say's 24.1 but from day one I have been using semi-synithic 32.1 just like the mechanic that the uncrates and puts them together said so I went ahead and followed his instructions using yama-lube 2R because they know best.............??? PS. I had to go back and have them put 4 screws that secure the plastic that where missing..............now you tell me if they can be trusted.

Tom $7 a gallon, I pay $8 for just a quart, something to think about?

I run either high octane pump gas or VP race gas and i use NEO T-2, i mix it bottle calls to be mixed 100:1 but i mix it 80:1, works great! no loadin up, you dont have to sit in the hole or anywhere and clean it out.

i was running bel-ray mc-1 at 50:1 in my zilla and blaster. did that for 4 years w/no trouble
i am now running amsoil at 50:1 because it's only 20 bux a gallon. no trouble so far
i just went online and researched it all. the owners manual reccomends the lower rate because they tested it w/non-synthetic. synthetic oils are way better, so there fore you get the same protection with less, as the dino oil.
has something to with the polymer strength if i remember correctly. just somethings i learned
