I am currently running a K&N filter in the stock box with the lid off. I would like to remove the airbox and clamp on a filter with outerwear. I saw that Uni makes some generic ones and I think K&N makes them also. What type do you use and what is the best? Include prices if you can please.

I think the uni is better because it stops more stuff from entering the engine. But the k&n lets morre air through and also smaller peices of dirt.

Are the filters you bought specific to your quad, or did you measure the diameter of your carb opening and buy a generic filter in the brand of your choice?

How often do you clean them?

Get a Uni unless you ride on pavement. Uni filters flow air. not dirt like K&N. I don't know much about any other filters.

I would stick with the K&N with the outer filter, just measure the carb where it will be clamped on. they will usally strech or shrink with the clamp a little measure the length that will fit, they also make them with slight angles to get around the shock . Chaparall out of cali has a good selection at good prices and will help match the pre filter also. I have this set up on my zilla for sand and i only have to clean the filter every couple of rides and its usaully just a pre filter wash. Just make sure you rejet....

I finally took the stock airbox off today. Was tougher than I thought it would be. I almost had to take the rear shock off to get it out, what a pain.

Stick with K&N... And use an Outerwear also, keep it clean and you'll have no problems with dirt.
There is NO alternative if you run sand... the foam filters don't stop sand intrusion.
Foam filters are better at filtering in fine powdery dirt.

I'd say it's application specific.

Just my $.02

I just got he K&N clamp on filter with outerwear today. Just ordered it 2 days ago from Rocky Mountain ATV. I have had good luck with them.

I have been thinking about making a deflector shield to keep water and mud from splashing the filter but havent done it yet. Still in the thinking stages.
