I have heard that the Lt250r motor is faster than the trx250r motor. Anyone else heard this or know of it, or does the lt just have better bottom end because of the power valve?

 

The LT motor is better in all regards. however the tecate 4 will kill both of them in power/speed.

fo shizzo but there are alot more mods for the trx and like no mods for the kawi.

 

Why is the Tecate motor so much more powerful and faster?

 

I’m not saying it is because I’ve not rode on. But if so, it would have to do with things like porting, compression, carb, exhaust and gearing.

 

I think the kawi had the most advanced power valve system and better porting.

 

all i know about the kawi is that it had a more 'modern' powervalve, but it handled weird and it's hard to get off-the-shelf parts for them. I like the way the plastic looks a lot. it had a removable subframe and a really cool frame design. if Kawi had have made them for a couple more years and had a more 250R style front suspension... I think we'd see tons of them on the racetracks.

hmmmm... this thread really has opened my eyes up to the tecate... i never even thought about what an almost-perfect machine it truly is...

 

You know what is weird. From what I here, the Tecate 4 had the most powerful motor, the Trx had the superior handling frame but the Lt250r was made for more years. Is it safe to say there were a lot more Lt250r's made and sold than the Trx250r's. I am very confident that there are more quadracers than tecate 4's in existance.

 

you would think there would be more quads that were made from 85-92 than from 86-89 huh? and the tecate 4's were only made in 87 and 88 and yes those are very rare. If you ever see one in real life consider your self lucky.
