Default K & N or FOAM?

I don't know which to do. Is the UNI FOAM filter flow rate alot worse than a K&N? i ride in some pretty dusty conditions lotsa lil dust particles flying around. .. i heard the K&N was more of just a sand Dune and HP filter but the FOAMS are were the safety is? are they both better than stock for safety issues... i will be running w/o a lid (i know oxymoron... worried about safety so i take off my lid) ... how affect is a K&N with the outwear.... im gonna be getting a Pro-Flow design and dont know if i should get K&N or UNI... why is the UNI filter better than the stock filter? sorry for all of the questions!

I can just give you my experience. I ride desert with dust like you wouldn't believe. Have run K&N with Outerwears on all my bikes for years, with no problems. I always double oil the filter (oil it then wait 24 hrs., oil again and don't install for at least a couple more hrs.) and change them as soon as there is a light coating of dust on the Outerwears. The filter itself is usually still very clean at that point. I have 3 filters for each bike. One on the bike, one ready to install, and one in the wash.

It's my understanding that K&N filters don't get the little fine dust particles filtered out. Foam is supposed to do a better job for this kind of thing. I don't have any real good experiences to tell you about to sway you one way or the other. K&N has always been my choice with cars and quads. I ride the dunes for the most part so I guess I'm doing good there with the K&N!

Just make sure you use foam filter oil with a foam filter. It's super sticky and it's a must to have your filter work to it's potential.

Hope this helps!
