the LT250R is a great all around quad. It has good all around power. The suspension isn't as plush as others, but the faster you go the better it gets. Do not go above $2500 for one though. With the new Z400's and YFZ450's you should not even have to pay that much. Absolutely do not buy it without looking it over thoroughly though. With a machine that old, there is a lot of chance for wear. Check all of the bushings and bearings. Get the wheels up in the air and shake them really good to check the wheel bearings. Shake the axle really hard to check the axle bearings. Definitely check the swingarm pivot bushings for play because those things are a pain in the butt to replace. one very important thing is to check the frame for cracks. The LT250R frame is prone to cracking on the bottom frame rails towards the back tires and around the swingarm pivot. Stand the quad up on end. If it has a skid plate, remove it and check the bottom frame rails for cracks. Also check around the swingarm pivots. If this is all good, go for it. For every set of bushings or bearings that is loose, subtract $100 from the price because this is what it will cost you in parts and time to replace. Absolutely do not buy a quad with a cracked frame, because even if you weld it, it will never be the same.

Compared to the price of new quads these days that is definately a reasonable price but remember that it is also a 13 year old machine and may require maintenance maybe alot of it if it was neglected. I got mine for 1800 but spent 2000 to get it where i wanted it . You can go two ways, either buy one and upgrade it yourself or buy one that already has everything done to it. I would buy the one in the best shape and mostly all stock and upgrade it the way you like .

yea i diffenetly did knot check over my lt before i bought it that good. i mean i checked the swing arm bearing axle bearing stuff there were tight but later on i blew them out. pain in the butt to put theme in and when i went to go put the axle bearing in i found out that the axle carrier had crackes and holes in it so that needed to be replaced well eneyway's yea make shure it is in good shape and test drive it for a while to make shure.

I hear ya kruzoffman. I bought my LT about 5 years ago and have since sold it, but it took me about 3 years to replace everything that was worn out on that thing. I doubt any of the previous owners had ever greased or replaced anything. I could probably tell you the size and torque specs on just about every bolt on that machine from tearing everything down to replace bearings, bushings, pistons, etc... I'm not saying don't buy something that needs a little work, but know what you're buying. I sure didn't know what I was getting when I bought mine. I learned my lesson with that quadracer and now I baby my new Z400 to make it easier on myself later.
