It depends on how you want to tune it. What do you use the bike for? For full top end you want as many discs in as possible.(it gets louder with every one) The more you tune for top end you loose bottom end power due to decreased backpressure. I'd rejet if you haven't yet.

When I bought my ct pipe I asked these same questions to them and they told mt with stock motor and filter you run 7 discs. they said If you modify the motor you can add to it to get different power bands. on the dyno at the shop when I put my ct pipe on it had 1 hp more peak hp with the end cap and the discs on then with it off I was just doing everything to tune the ppe and 7 is as well how many i say put the most hp to the machine.
