Z400 getting fuel in oil, please help

We are sure their is fuel in the oil, u can smeel it, it ignites, and there is an excessive amount of fluid that spues out. Checked when cool. We believe the fuel is still flowing while turned off, then trickling down passed the rings.

Maybe just do a little test and "crimp" the fuel line to stop all flow and open the drain screw emptying the float bowl etc after the next oil change and see if you can isolate if its happening when running or sitting etc.
Another way would be if there was unexplained fuel useage during storage etc.
PS its hard to find a good knowledgeable dealer so if you have one consider your self lucky.

motox26, Is there fuel in your air box? If that much fuel is running into your engine I think it will run into your air box too. Check the drain in the air box to see if it is full. If there is fuel I would suspect the petcock is bad, but first When parked what position is the fuel switch left in, run, prime, or reserve?
If the quad is parked with the switch left in prime the fuel will continue to trickle out and it should run into the airbox, this would explain the smell of fuel.
I asked earlier when the oil is checked. If you read the manual they specify as follows: 1 check oil after quad has sat for one week or 2 on a cold engine start and run quad 3 minutes then wait 3 minutes and check oil.....which of these two methods is your friend using? If you check it in a different manner the oil may appear to be too full as you indicate or it will measure too low.
hope this helps.

We finally figured it out, some how a hole was made through one of the vacuum lines, this let the fuel keep flowing at all times.
Thank you for all of your advise, my friend says thanks too.
P.S. Why do you guys think suzuki just didn't put an off position on the petcock, so this problem would not occur?

Send a letter to suzuki and request it be changed, that is the only way they will know it is a problem. If you can find the address I will write to as I dont like the setup either. Congratulations on solving the problem the authorized mechanics at your dealership couldnt. So it was a leak in a vacuum hose on the carb?
