Default Eiger Break-in ?

Bought an '04 4x4 auto Eiger. Now up to 35 miles on it. Dealer said break-in period of a couple of tanks of gas. I'm guessing that is 150 to 200 miles.

What kind of mileage and riding conditions have you guys followed breaking one in.

For the first couple of hours take it easy and stay below about hlf throttle. After That ride the thing like you are gona drive it just dont hold the throttle wide open for more than a couple of seconds. Do the first service after 100 miles. Thats my advice im sure there are many other methods out there.

I ran through 3 tanks of gas, did the service, and the engine runs like a champ! (Just a note, I did have a problem with little black plastic flakes in the carb. Assume it was from the tank or something. Took about 800 miles to rear it's face.)

I stayed under half throttle first couple times out and made sure it had its first service at 100 miles. after first service just rode it how i wanted to. No problems yet only have about 160 miles on qaud. Just make sure you get first service at about 100 miles.

I didn't follow the exact break in procedure in the manual. I had a few wide open throttle bursts and hard work on it. I took it in at 100 miles (it was about 2 tanks of gas for me) and had the dealer due the first service. I have about 1000 miles on it now and I have run synethic oil since 100 the mile service. I have not had any problems with this quad. Although I did have some junk in the carb so I installed a inline fuel filter. I think it has finally broke in, my last full throttle run on a gravel road topped out at 56-57 MPH. I was only able to reach 52-53 mph before. Its a great quad congrats on your purchase.

I too didn't necesarilly follow the break in, heck I don't think I even tried too...I was stupid for not doing it, the dealer didn't say anything to me about it, but I should have known to do it..Oh well, I have almost 400 hard ridden miles on the quad now and not a problem yet as far as to how it is running! The only thing I have had wrong so far is a backfire every now and then, but I have been told it can be a pinched carb hose or something...Gonna take it in the get it checked...Oh yeah for you guys with eigers, has your storage box on the rear held up well? My stud broke that the rubber goes over to keep it shut and the door flew back while riding and got melted on the exhaust. Do you think this would be considered under warranty? I doubt it...

I haven't had a problem with the rear box other than having to move the gasket to keep it water tight. I have about 900 miles on now and the only other issue I had (besides the junk in the carb mentioned earlier) is that my inner tie rod ends were loose. Keep an eye on them, I have had many people tell me to do the same.

Great quad in all, would recommend it to anyone!

would the tie rods being loose cause slight play in the handlebars when turned side to side slightly?

I did my first service at 100 miles I took it to the dealer for the first service. I am thinking of doing the next one myself the dealer is on the expensive side the parts where only about $35, but the labor was about $180. Have any of you guys done any of your own services and if so how did it go. I was also wondering about how many miles did you wait for second service.
