Lt500r Quadzilla
#1
I'm new to this forum.
I have a Quadracer lt500r that i just got in the shop. There is a rectangular plate on the left side of the frame down by the
botom of the motor, it looks like there was somthing stamped in it at one point in time but it has been ground off, was that where the serial number should've been? Also what is the correct fuel mixture, i used 24:1 just to be safe, i have heard that 32:1 is right but i am not sure., Also what size main jet should i use, i had to put a 410 in to get it to run when the pipe was leaking near the block but i fixed that, and now when i run it i am getting a lot of unburned fule outta the exhaust and it bogs down and almost stalls i am gonna try the 390 that was in there and see if it helps. Also the rear caliper is missing because the person who was sposed to be fixing it before me threw it away. is there any place to order one from, along with the front brake master cylnder and resevore because the screws are broke that hold the cover on. Other wise the quad is in good shape, the seat is perfect, but it could use new plastic sometime. it's got aluminum wheels and holeshots. What would one of these be worth. it is not for sale but i was just wondering. By the way i am only 16 so if some of my terms are incorect let me know.
Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum!
First off, yes, that little plate is supposed to have a serial number stamped on it. The correct fuel mixture is subject to some discussion, but the manual says 20:1, I personally run 32:1 with Amsoil, but some people run 50:1 with Golden Spectro and some people run 100:1 with Amsoil. Pick a good oil and run what they recommend. Let me know what your elevation is and I can give you stock jetting info. IF your quad has an aftermarket pipe or other mods than you will have to experiment with the jetting. Most of the parts for this quad are still available through your local Suzuki dealer. There also is an abundance of used parts available. Check ebay. There are some good online dealers for parts too. I would suggest getting the service manual, it has a plethora of info in it.

I was using Polaris Blue oil. I had it mixed between 24:1 to 20:1 if not richer, it smoked like heck! I picked up a 380 and 390 jet s tonight so i will try em tomorow morning, idk the elevation, i'm in Jordan NY.(upstate new york) if that helps. i belive it has the stock pipe and silencer. Would new reeds make a difference? i've only had it here for a day so i really havent had a lot of time to play with it. I had it running for a bout an hour two weeks ago with the pipe almost all the way off with the 410 jet and it idled and ran perfect. the 390 was what was in there before i cleaned the carb but i put the 410 in to make up for lack of back pressure.
Thanks for the help.

for the 87 model year it shows for 0- 5000 ft a #420 main jet for 41-77 deg F. #400 for above 77 deg F and #440 for below 41 deg F.
Jet needle is a 6DH6 in the 3rd position for 41-77 deg F, 2nd position for above 77 deg F, and 4th position for below 41 deg F.
Air screw should be 1 1/2 turns out for above 41 deg F and 1 turn out for below 41 deg F.
if you have an 88-90 Model the jetting is a little different.
it is a #350 for 41-77 deg F, #340 for above 77 deg F, and #360 for below 41 deg F.
the Jet Needle is a 6DK3 in the 3rd for 41 -77 deg F, 2nd position for above 77 deg F, and 4th position for below 41 deg F.
Air screw should be 1 1/2 turns out for above 41 deg F and 1 turn out for below 41 deg F.
Hope this helps.
