Default Plllllleeeaaassseeee!

Could someone please give me an estimate, even a rough estimate as to how much it might cost me to have my LT230S engine rebuilt? It smokes very badly and I'd like to have the top end rebuilt and bored .20 over (or is a larger bore better for this, and if so what how much of one?)

Could someone just give me a guess as to the price?

Thanks!

well you need to tear it apart and find out what is causing the leak. Is it the rings, is it the cylenders, is it the valves or guides. all these things are a commen problem in that motor when you get alot of time on them. untill you know what you are going to have to do to the motor its kind of tough to tell you that.

I'm pretty sure it's the rings but I'm just wondering a guess as to a complete top end rebuild and .20 bore

I'd guess your are looking at at least 400. Anytime a 230 motor is rebuilt you need new crank bearings, and prob. a new rod. That and valve seals are the weak link in the motor.

If it is the rings what will happen if I let it stay this way?

Also the oil burns very fast, I have to fill it after each ride.

Most likely you will either chip off a ring, or run it too low on oil once and trash everything. I'd at least do a ghetto rebuild and drop in new oversized rings on the smallest overbore, and a fresh hone.

This sucks! I also recently replaced the fiber plates and clutch springs and it's started to slip like hell! I guess maybe the steels needed replacement also but the guy at the parts store said they rarely go bad.

It slips very badly and it won't even wheelie it's so bad. The front sprocket has some missing teeth but there's no way it's the cause as to what seems like the clutch.

I think it's time to quit riding, and do some wrenching.
