Default lt500r Head gasket Question.

Hi guys and gals,

I'm in a state of confusion at this point and im sure this may help out some other people as well.

First off ,im not a motor mechanic by any means But i do know the rest of my 87 lt500r inside and out.

I sent out my motor to have it rebuilt a while back and i was told it needed to be bored and honed and what not,ok fine, anyway the guy who did it said my motor is in good shape and after it is all said and done i will have 2 more bores left before i have to have it resleeved.
My question to everyone is ,If it has 2 more bores left , I am now 40 over ,CORRECT?

WHAT SIZE HEAD GASKET DO I NEED AND WHERE DO I GET THEM IN THIS SIZE?

The guy who did this job accidently sent me a 88-90 head gasket to use ...I need a 87 one.
The part number on the gasket he sent says 11141-43b20 and this Number does not match up with a stock gasket so im assuming i dont use the stock size, correct?

The stock gasket for a 87 zilla says a part number of 11141-43b01 but if im bored over i need a larger one right?

Zig

Default lt500r Head gasket Question.

hey zig !! sup !! LOL in answer to your question .. the stock gasket will run up to a .90mm over bore . then after that cometic makes them in 91mm and over . as far as the bore sizes .. my last one was on its 7th bore . wiesco makes pistons up to a 2.00 bore size . so there is acually 8 bores to the cylinder . if you have any questions on the gaskets that did not get answered .. call cometic direct . they helped me out on my questions .

Don

ok found the bore sizeing chart ..std , 0.25 , 0.50 . 0.75 , 1.0 , 1.25 , 1.5 , 1.75, 2.00 . i think they even have some more in off sizes also

Default lt500r Head gasket Question.

The .040 is reffering to inches not millimeters = to a 1.0 piston which is used in inches. You should be able to put your head gasket on and not see any hanging over into the inside of the bore. Cometics are usally pretty big. If not call Trinity, they have different head gaskets (which are probably cometics?) as well as different thickness base gaskets if you feel like playing with port timing the easy way. By the way wiseco does go alot bigger than the factory pistons. Many people like Trinity don't believe in going much bigger that 1.5 mm due to heavy piston and to much friction. Too much weight and it starts getting hard on the bottom end. I am running a 2.0 with no problem. I think?
