Hey,
My brother is thinking about gettin either one of these quads and wanted to know how these compare handling, power, reliablility, etc. The reason he wants to know about the suzuki is because he can find them really cheap and wants to get a quad soon. Thanks for the help!

Not trying to bash on suzuki, but I have ridden both quite a bit, handling and reliability goes to the honda, as for power there pretty close but depends on the mods. Plus lt frames have a history of cranking.

The front suspension on an LT is crappy compared to an R. But I like the LT ergonomics and engine. On a budget the LT is the way to go. If I had lots o' money I'd own both.
With the money you save buying an LT over an R, like Teo says, you could buy +2 A arms and good shocks, along with other things, and have a very good unit.
I have been jumping mine for 12 years on stock suspension and have never cracked the frame. I've gone 56 feet and I weigh 200 pounds. For what it's worth.

I am new to ATV's and traded an old snowmobile for an old suzuki Quadracer.
The serial number is: JSAAM11A9H2100xxx
Can anyone tell me anything about this machine?
I was told it is a Suzuki Quadracer from the mid-eighties. It is Blue(Seat/Engine) and Yellow trim.
It is dirty and the plastic is cracked a bit but it supposedly runs but I'm not quite sure how to go about checking it over before attempting to start it. I know sleds fairly well but quads I have no clue. Does this thing need a key to be started? I wasnt given one by the guy I traded to. Is it gas/oil premix? There is a radiator on it but how do I fill it?
thanks for any info you guys can lend!

Yes it is premix, 32 or 40 to 1 works. The radiator is behind the blue plastic front cap. You need to pop off the top blue plastic cap to get at it. They used a key switch, but many times they are taken off and the handlebar kill switch is the only on-off used. The key switch would be in the middle of the handlebars. I can look later at my Clymers and maybe decipher that serial # to tell you what year it is.

Thanks! Anything anyone can tell me about this machine is appreciated.
Is it any good as far as having it gone over and cleaned up and tuned-up?
Is it worth it to fix it up if I have to pay someone to do it?
I'm mechanically declined myself and can't even change oil without a trip to the emergency room. LOL
Thanks!
