Default newbie needs help!

pretty nice forum you guys got going on here!

ok heres my problem: i have a stock z400 with a slip on exhaust and about a month ago, i was riding with a buddy and i hit this warm up jump and landed a little too rough on the right side of my rear axle which caused my rear brake to break off. the part where the brake broke off is the thing (sorry i dont know the name) that holds the axle in place. i was told by the dealer of where i purchased my quad, that i was gonna need a whole new swing arm and that it was gonna cost me a little less than a grand for them to put another factory swing arm. noway im gonna pay that unless its a lonestar swing arm or something way better than factory. so anyways, today i was looking at my quad and realized after taking off the disc brake, the thing that holds the axle is bolted on and not attached to the swing arm like the guys said. can this part be purchased anywhere? i could use all the help i could get!

thank you,
matt

I'm not real familiar with the Z but from what I can tell it looks like you are talking about the axle housing and it looks to be removable from the swing arm. Is this the part that they want a grand for?

i already checked ebay for it and nothing at all. they even had a Z on there that was been torn apart for parts that people wanted but my quad was broken at the time.

ya thats what im talking about, the axle housing, and they wanted to charge me for the whole factory swing arm and i thought that was crazy. does anybody know where i could find the axle housing??

thanx a lot guys for helping,
matt

Right now on ebay there is a swingarm w/bearing carrier and new bearings , I know you don't need the swingarm but the reserve is only $95 (4days left on biding) You could buy it and remove the carrier and sell the swingarm to recoop some money.I hopes this helps ,just a suggestion. I used (ltz400 swingarm)as my search
