Default ATV Prices

Hello,
I have a few questions about ATV Prices. I am going to buy a 04' z400. I have been looking around for the best price. Most places won't even give you a quote. They want you to come into the showroom. (HAHA yeah OK) Now at first i was looking at the 400ex which has an MSRP of $5299 - and at naults in NH they gave me an OTD quote at 4399. So they were able to shave of $900 from the MSRP. Now that i have decided to go with a Suzuki , the MSRP is $5699 and the quotes i have been getting are 5600 OTD. So they were able to shave off $99. Ohhh Yeah. Thanks for the deal man! So now i got an email from Honda East in Ohio and he said he can get it to my door for $5450.How can he do this but i can't find a dealer to match his price of 5200 (minus the shipping cost)? Anyone have any dealer they would suggest ? I live in Rhode Island so i could pick-up in New Englend. Or do you guys think i should buy from Ohio? Also what happens if i have a problem? Can i take it to any dealer for a warranty repair?

Thanks for any input!!!!

Rafiki

$5600 isn't a bad price OTD. OTD can mean a lot of different things, does that include your local tax? if it does, that is a screaming good deal. Your Ohio deal wouldn't include any tax coming from out of state, so I would assume you will have to pay that anyway. For $180 bucks I would go with a local dealer, sure, your warranty will work at any authorized dealer, but how would you feel if you were the local dealer and some guy brought in a problem that was purchased elsewhere for a measley $180 savings?
Support your local dealer and he will treat you right, If he doesn't, find another dealer.

The Z does not have a lot of markup, and there are costs, plus the cost of doing business, find a dealer you like, that gives you a fair price, or save $180 and go it alone.

ok here is a few other things to think about. I live in Rhode Island. RI has 7% tax. NH has 0% tax. So theres a very good chance that the purchase will be made in NH. I understand that I should buy local to support them but i am not just going to throw away 350 bucks. So the 5600 OTD has no tax in NH. Also the one in OH has no tax because it is through the internet, but he can deliver for $5450.In RI you don't have to register the bike so they can't get you later for sales tax.

Assuming NH is fairly close and you like the dealer....That would be the way to go.
I agree that $350 tax is steep, and I would try and avoid that too, but for $150 I would rather have a dealer nearby, just in case. Plus, there may be other perquisites such as discounts or whatever. Go with New Hampshire!
