they handle good.. they have quite a bit of power.. they have reverse.. they have a soft suspension and have a nice soft seat. if you just trail ride and like to screw around with buddies on a track it prolly the best quad to get.. assuming all problems are fixed on them.

can also be built into a pretty mean machine if you decide to get into racing, or just want more performance.

great trail bike in stock form. very easy to ride. smooth and easy power throughout the entire range.
stock shocks leave a little to be desired(a little too soft).
chain adjustment is cr@pola.
front easy to get up, great wheelie balance point(not as great as a 400ex though).
it does "ride" higher than a 400ex, but you get used to it quickly.

I've had mine for about 2 months and I love it. I have had absolutely no problems with mine, only maintenance so far was to tighten the chain. The chain adjuster is not as bad as people say. Most folks try to loosen the axle bolts with the rear brake in place, but the rear caliper sits right above the bolt heads so you have to get in there with a wrench and it's awkward. The easy solution is to simply remove the 2 bolts that hold on the caliper, easily accessible, and move the caliper out of the way. Removing and reinstalling the calpier when adjusting the chain actually makes it a quicker procedure, because the 90 seconds it takes to remove and replace the caliper is shorter than the 5 or 10 minutes you will spend trying to get the bolts loosened and tightened if the caliper is still installed. This is changed on the 2004 as I understand, so if you're buying new it won't be an issue. On the 04's, the caliper no longer blocks the bolts.

As far as the performance, the bike rocks. Lots of power, good gearing, easy wheelies. I can crawl along in second, just sit back on the seat and hit the gas and pull up into a wheelie. Balances very well on 2 wheels as well. When I got the bike I thought the suspension was actually too stiff. I now have the front shocks set at "2" (1-5 available) and the rebound and compression damping turned down a couple clicks on the rear and it rides great for me. I can get good air and land comfortably, and it also rides great inthe trails/whoops.

Also look at the Kawi KFX400, same bike but different colors. Also, the Arctic Cat 400 is the same bike but the plastics are a bit different. The Suzuki, Kawi and Cat are all the same identical bike.

Good luck!

The Z is a good bike. I have had mine for about 5 months and have had a blast. Haven't gone to the track yet but have been out almost every weekend to go riding. It has a sound motor because it is out of the DRZ400 dirtbike which has proven itself reliable. The frame weakness is fixed in the 04 bikes. It handles really good. Just adjust the suspension to fit you and your set to go anywhere. No its not the fastest bike anymore with Yamaha and Honda's quads coming out. But this is an all around good quad.
