thats a tough question to answer. my first instinct is to say...yes...it is to much quad for a kid. but like some others have said...ive seen a 13 yr old on a built shee before! Jus depends on the kid.

 

If he is a mature 14 no it is not to much. But turning down the govener, what 14yr boy would leave it when dad wasn't looking?

 

I got my KFX when I was 14, and two weeks later it was piped and jetted,lol.I'm now 15 and love the thing. I think he can handle it, but there is a HUGE power difference between the two quads. This really is up to you because none of us has ever seen him ride and we dont know his experience level. I think he'd be fine, but its your call.

 

I know a kid who rides one and he's just a little squid. He gets stuck in the mud a lot because he doesn't know how to ride. But I'm sure your son will be ok.

 

i had a banshee when i was 13. when i was 14 i got a ds650 and put about 6 grand US into it and it had a top speed of 86mph. i was able to handle it just fine. it all depends on the persons skills. some are better, some are worse.

my first quad was a quadrunner 250 and i was 9 when i had that,i sold it 2 years ago and i saved my money until october of this year and bought a 2001 polaris scrambler 500,im only 15 but im 6'4" 225 and i have been handling it pretty good so i think he should be able to handle it nicely,u can always let him ride one first and see how he does but i think yall should get it,let him ride for awhile, and then mod it up!!!

i agree with everyone else it depends on the kid im 14 and im riding any quad i want to, like everyone else said he just needs to know his limits and to be responsible, when i was 13 i was rding raptors and z400s and 400exs with no problem

 

tell him to take it easy when he gets it...let him get used to it then he can start doing some tricks or whatever

 

I was riding a 1974 400 Maico when I was 14, 120 pounds! I couldn't even kick start it, I had to try to push start it on our hill. Needless to say, it was a Maico, and it didn't start on the first trip down the hill! Anyway, I was young, and it was a VERY powerful, but I handled it OK. ita ll depends on how responsible you kid is. Good luck!
