not as long as he understands that he is operating a powerful machine and he can control it... its really up to you and him. every kid is different, some can handle a raptor, some cant even handle a blaster. i would imagine that if he is experienced, he should be able to handle the Z. and its a good quad also

My daughter is 13, and handles the Z just fine. She is big for her age however, and passes for 18! She worked her way through a bunch of bikes on the way, growing up. LT-80, LT-160, Recon, 250EX, 300EX, 400EX, so it isn't like she just jumped on a 400 one day and rode off down the trail. Best to leave the engine stock though, until he is older and better able to handle the power. Make sure he takes a safety course, and nerf bars are a darn good idea on any bike!

There is one of theose throttle limiters on the throttle assm.
When I was 14, I was 6'1 and 170#, size was (and still is) not an issue, but the mind of a 14 year old boy, is what would worry me. I know I probably would have hurt myself on a Z400 at 14, well maybe not, I didn't hurt myself on a RM80 or a ATC350X.
