Has anyone ever drilled out another set of bolt pattern on a set of aluminum wheels? I ordered a set and they sent the wrong ones so I was wondering if I could make a Yamaha pattern the same as my z400. These are itp .190's. thanks

 

I think it would work fine. Although it might be better to send those back and get the right ones-if possible. If not just make sure you make exact measurments and I'd make the holes as tight fitting to the bolts as possible. Hope it goes well!!!

 

Its no problem, its actuall kind of nice, you can use them on a Yamah or a Honda.

Why not just send them back. If you screw up you are going to be out the rims and a big chunk of cash.

 

I drilled some wheels. The first time I tried, it didn't work real well, but I oriented them in a manner so that if I did screw up , I still had room to try again. The second time worked. They have about 4 different patterns, but as long as one works, so be it. Now I have made templates that take the guess work out of it.
If you are handy and have done some fabricating before, then it isnt too bad, but if your tools consist of a cheap drill, with old bits that have gone untouched for a while, I suggest exchanging the wheels.
A drill press really helps.

 

Agree, send them back.

I believe ATV wheels are lugcentric (.vs hubcentric). With a lugcentric whell you culd probably do it but it your off a bit your wheel will show it and it'll never go away.

This is not a big deal. Take them down to the local machine shop and have them drilled. It will cost less than the shipping & hassle with sending them back and waiting on new ones. I've drilled several myself also, it's just a matter of making sure the bolt pattern is centered on the wheel it's self.
