Default Z400 - Piston and Cam option's....

My buddy has a Z400.....he has already installed the full Alba system(k&n filter, pro design adapter, and jets). So now he is ready to install a new piston and cam's.....so what do you guys recommend? He was wanting to keep the stock bore but go up on compression.

Stock bore, just get the drz-e base gasket. Raises compression to 12.2:1 Gasket is only about $40, so then you could get the cams and a new cdi.

Just by changing to that gasket raises your compression?????

And does those CDI's help as much as they do the 400ex??

Yep, the Z400 uses the same base gasket as the drz-s, but the drz-e has a thinner base gasket which results in higher compression.

You guys got any url's to where I can check out these gaskets???

And you would have to change the cam's to go with this higher compression right???

I don't have any url's but the part number is 11241-29F00. Just ask your Suzuki dealer. You don't have to change the cams, but most people do it since they have the motor opened up anyway.
BTW, at 12.2 compression you can still run 93 octane pump gas. A new piston can get you 13.5 compression but then you'll have to run race fuel.

I just installed a Keihin FCR 39mm carb, Hot Cams Intake ans Exhaust cams, and the DRZ Gasket. The Gasket is only $8.00. This is a $750 mod and it gets quite a bit of power. I have heard that both cams drop the low end power, maybe thats only with a stock carb, this has quite a bit more pull on the whole band. I used to have a 13 tooth front sprocket, now I have the 14 back on, I hit the limiter faster , harder, and quicker now. It pulls the tires up in every gear, if I have traction.
Highly Recommended.

Awesome SandNeck. I'll inform my buddy and he can contact his dealer. Thanks for the info.
