WARN Winch 2500lb Pulling power down.
Hey guys,
I have a problem with my WARN winch. ya see since I was stuck in a mud hole it doesn't have as much pulling power as it used (to have). If I hold onto the wire strong enough I can't keep it out. Now, while I was in the mud hole, I used the winch to pull me out and I hooked it onto this small cedar tree. I was beginnging to get pulled out when all of a sudden the lights became really dim (it was near night fall) and the winch pulled the tree out of the ground. And then I didn't have any other trees to attach to. So I had to get pulled put by the SUV. Anyways I was thinking that maybe I need to recharge my battery? Could this be the case or could some thing else be wrong with it?
Thanks a lot!
Josh

Always leave your bike running while winching... you should also have the bike in gear and under it's own power to help out the winch.
You could also have some corrosion on the electrical cables for the winch resulting in low current draw which would yield poor winching power.
Hope this helps.

Ditto....... Make sure to keep quad running, stay on the quad if possible and use the throttle. You want to get the quad out with it's own power if possible. I would also take all the connections apart and clean 'em up. I use liquid electrical tape to cover all my connections and the connectors on the cables themself. Don't be shy with it either. The stuff is flexible, but I also cover with good electrical tape also. Never had a problem yet.
Good Luck
