I've seen 2004s for $4395, $4495 before fees, which I can't imagine being a whole lot more than $5k otd. If you search on something like "z400 otd" on this site you'll see lots of talk about it.

It's the Chicago Cycle Center ads in the Auto-RV free ad paper. I'm not sure how much shipping & setup add up to. It seems reasonable as I recall more than one person on this site at $5100 out the door. The Chicago Cycle Center price also includes a few hundred bucks in accessories. I'm not sure if you can just use that to decrease the purchase price.

There's also a place in Chicago (Des Plaines Honda) advertising the 2004 400EX for $3799 (before shipping, setup, and tax).

Chicago Cycle tacks on some fee's though. Like $200 destination and another $150 for assembly. Shipping is right around $400.00 for most anywhere in the US. So take that $4395 + $350 misc. + $400 shipping. Your over $5k and you still have to pay local taxes in most states if you want registration for the bike to ride on public OHV parks.

I checked out Chicago Cycle when the YFZ's came out and deal wasn't as good as it first seems.

I would think HARD about finding a used one. There area a lot of REALLY nice ones out there for a great price. I paid $4000 last winter for one that had NO wear on it and one little scape. Some fellow bought it, rode it once and flipped it on to the grab bar, fell off then sold it. Said it was too dangerous..... Heck the thing was not even dirty. 10 minutes and a can of touch up paint made the grab bar look like new.....
Look around you maybe able to save some $$$$
Good luck

i bought mine from chicago cycle center, last year, a 2003 for 4998 otd. The price in the cycle trader ad was 4495 with 300 free accessories, well like any other place trying to make a sale, they arent 100 percent true. The 300 dollars accessories only comes if you ad 300 to the price of yoru quad. But even at the 4998, it was about 700 to 800 cheaper than any place around us.
