I just got a new LTf500f. Almost every time I shut it down, I get a backfire out of the tail pipe. Is this normal?

Absolutly not normal.Your more than likly dealing with too lean a carb mixture.Dont run it to long like that either.Get it back into the dealership and have that problem looked at.----BILL

MINE HAS BEEN BACKFIRING FOR 1.5 YEARS....IT IS NOT LEAN...IT IS JUST LOADING UP WHEN U SHUT IT OFF AND THAT IS WHAT IS CAUSING THE BACKFIRE...IT JUST KEEPS THE CARBON CLEANED OUT HAHAHA

I just bought the 2000 issue, and when I test drove the unit, it backfired when I turned it off as well. I took it back to the shop and asked about it before I bought it. Whatever they did, fixed it, and it has never happened since. I will ask them what they did and get back to you.

I asked the service manager what he did to stop my LT F500 from back firing, and he said that he fattened it up a bit to run a little richer, and it has'nt done it since. I'm interested to know what color your plug is when you take it out ??

If its backfiring when you shut down or when you are decelerating down a hill in a lower gear with no throttle, try turning the idle mixture screw out in half tourn increments to richen the mixture a little.
