What is the best pipe that you can get for an Lt80?? I have a DG on it right now and I think the pipe is holding it back ........ I have seen a bunch of pipes but i they all look the same ..... I was thinking of getting the LRD pipe but i am still not sure wich is the best. So, HELP ME OUT !!!

I think FMF might have a pipe for the little 80 as well, not sure though. IMO, anything is better than DG, LRD is pretty sick, Id go with them before FMF. The LRD is probably your best bet. Who else makes pipes for the LT80?

There isn't a pipe that will perform any better than your DG. The LRD is a good pipe also. I've tested the FMF and found it good for a stock motor, but terrible once the motor is modified.
It's your motor holding it back, not the pipe.
I personally like the stock pipe! It can out perform any pipe mentioned.
Porting is where to get rpm's, not a pipe.

One thing I foun dthat opened up our LT80 was removing the restricer between the header and the cylinder. There was a loss in bottom end, but after you get away from the initial "hit", it really picks up the pace. Our restricter was all black and burned, it was nice to take it away, the sound is also changed a little too, not louder, just more 2 stroke sounding (if I recall right, it was a long time ago).

Boy, listen to LT80. I just sold the FMF that I had on my daughter's quad. It didnt run as good as the DG did actually. For maximum output the LT makes the best power with a STOCK PIPE! Hard to believe huh? That is with the full meal deal that Mr. LT80 does. The porting specs are almost a joke on those little motors, but they have to be considering the age group they service. But they only turn about 6500 RPMs stock and that's why they last forever. It's hard to do only a couple of things and get great results. But there are lots of things one can do.Bubba

I was at the Cal. Buttercup Dunes one time, and this lt80 next to my sons just screamed up the competition hill all the way to the top with no proplem at all. I asked the gentelmen what he did to his sons quad, and his said he did the 110 big bore kit, trinity clutch kit porting and i noticed he had this modified pipe of some sort that i didn't recognized....Well i did all that. while still having the dg pipe on. It ran better but not like the other kids quad. I recently took my lt80 in another shop and he gauranteed that he could make the bike run alot better. Well it does run alot better, but still not happy. I have some modified 400 polaris's that were modified by Dennis Shotwell (AZ BADBOYZ). They all had dg pipes on them . Soon i changed them out they came alive..........That's why i thought my lt80 was being held back by the pipe. We only ride at the sand dunes, and was wanting a top end pipe so my son can go up and over a big hill if needed. I am floored that the stock pipe would be a better pipe..not doubting what you're saying, but is that for bottom end to mid range? Or am i just missing something? I have dumped enough money in this quad i could have bought almost 2 quads...I have also seen on lt80 hop ups---the gearing kit that they advertise about getting 5mph faster...is that worth getting or do i just need to start over? Thanks for your help.

I kinda think that my clutching is holding me back also, but not sure...The first shop that did my original work just did mild porting. I think they didn't know much about modifying stuff...Thats why i think maybe there is something missing in the clutch. Is there some way of knowing?

LT80 builds national race caliber engines and ships them worldwide. Instead of turning 6500 they turn 9500-9800, and that is on a stock pipe. He said they have tried many and the stocker does the best for them. The clutching can make or break the little motors. Modifying the reedcage, head, clutching, and especially doing a good port job is all necessary. I started off by doing a mild port job on my daughter's as well along with shaving the head and doing the reedcage and putting in good reeds. I lightened the front rollers in the primary clutch some and made the secondary engage higher. the bike ran a full second quicker drags in 300ft than a stocker, but it is FAR from the caliber of what LT80 builds. By the way, I do have the speed kit on our's as well and it didnt hurt bottom end any from what I could tell. Although it was done after the motor work I did. Hope that helps,Bubba
