Probably isnt that bad...figure it this way, its about 4 bucks to fill the tank, and thats only a buck an hour to ride. I know when im 4x4 in snow, my foreman is around 10 mpg, between the cold weather, slippery conditions, added resistance of 4x4, and goosing the thumb, the thing really eats the gas.
Seeing how you have 2x4, chain drive, and 200 lbs lighter, i doubt its less than 10mpg.

Went on a 50 mile ride during break in with my Z, and I got about 38 mpg, the best in the crowd!! I
was riding with 4wd ATV's with CVT's, so this makes sense. They are running higher rpm's constantly,
while with the Z you are shifting. I couldnt have been happier. It is probably getting better now that
it is broke in, havent checked...
Anyways, I guess if it seems like it is eating fuel more than it should, have it checked out.

Funny that you have the same quads I do. Last fall I went on an epic adventure ride with my brother and let him ride my Mojave. Predictably the Mojave went on reserve first while my KXF never hit reserve but was pretty empty when we got back. I've noticed that my KXF uses more fuel than I'm used to, but that's coming off a 250. I think it does okay for a 400.

I've got 2 '04 KFX400s and I've checked the mileage twice on them and each time I was getting around 20mpg, all I ride is trails.
They are both stock. I can go around 50 miles on a tank if I let it go real low. Any mods to yours to make it use more fuel?
