Default Thinking About Getting a LT250R

I have one.

I'M going to go see it saturday. I let you know all.

By the way, like I asked before, is the gear order written on the case near the shifter? I will like his face when I ask why it's written 6 gear on the case

I understand well the mechanism of the powervalve. I'm know it's controlled I think from the transmission (not to sure), so there is no way to add a 87-92 cylinder on a 85-86 bottom end right?

that's the thing man, on my 87 there is no numbers on the side case that show the shift pattern, but i still assure you that the 87-92 are all 6 speeds. make sure you tell him that the 87-92's are all 6 speeds, don't let him tell you different, even my manual i got for the thing says those years are all 6's. and again i wouldn't buy it if the 6th was messed up. and if it's a PV is will have a little glass window on the right side of the engine that looks like an oil check, but instead it's the PV window.

now on my honda it has the shift pattern on it that goes 1st down, then 2nd through 6th up.

He said there were no 6-speed quadracer ever. He's really a pain in the a**. And yes there is a little window like an oil check on the cylinder.

Splitting the cases is alot of work. You should rebuild the bottom end while you're in there so plan on spending about $600-700 to have it done. Better be a real good deal.

Sounds like you looked at the quad, yes? What is the overall condition? It's easy enough to tell if 6th gear works, just get on it and ride and count the gears as you shift. If it doesn't work then make a low ball offer, if he doesn't take it, then leave and find a Quadracer that is in much better condition.

Going to go see it saturday. Why would a gear be missing if he rebuild the transmission in spring?

If the 6Th gear is dead, what will happens If I try to shift? Will act like if it only have 5 or will it do something special?

Thanks

I'm afraid that if I do a low ball offer, he's going to say that I'm probably the only one that knew that those LT were 6 speed and he's going to say that he's going to "STEAL" somebody else

Because it was not done right.

Then you don't want it! Undoing somebody else's mistake is always more difficult than doing it right the first time. If he screwed up the rebuild that badly, then there's probably more things wrong with the bike. If you are dead set on buying this thing even with a malfunctioning tranny, don't pay more than $500 for it (and that's if everthing else is in good condition!)

That's about the amount I was thinking about. I can get it redone perfectly for free anyway.

And with ebay you can find a lot of stuff

Splitting cases on the buzzsaws are easy if you have the tools to do it and have the good ole manual handy. Otherwise as stated before dont do it if it doesnt have all 6 gears. And yes the 87-92 all had 6 gears. Suzukis have always had excellent shifting transmissions. They will almost shift under a little power without clutching and just about all will shift perfect if you let off the gas and shift without clutching.Dont let him feed you a line of bull and keep things in your favor.
