Wheelies!!!!

Just wonderin how everyone else starts out thier wheelies on the Z400 or 250s. What gear do you start in, do you rev it and dump the cluth in 2nd, do you even use the cluth, ect, ect..? I like to start right out in 1st with out dumping the clutch or without standing up with one foot in the back bumper on your knee... thats the cheap and easy way out!!!

The way I do it on my Z250 is I stop and in first I just punch and pul and she comes up for me every single time I go to do a wheelie, but i would bet that if I had a clutch I could really have a blast on it. My stepdad can ride one on my cousins Z250 for ever by putting his knees on the seat and his feet in the rear grab bar.

I wouldn't use the "dump the clutch" method on a bike that was mine. I find it easier to start from a slow roll revv it up a little, then idle down and hammer on it. It takes a lot of practice to learn to wheelie well, and on smaller bikes its mostly about leaning, and pulling on the bars hard enough. And if your feet don't stay on the pegs, it's cheating.

I have both and for me its better to get the wheels up in second by rolling up in second and punch it. I just lean back and balance the bike by the throttle.

Do any of you guys get gas coming out of that tube that you use to drain out the carburetor with at all?
I was out in the street today practicing and its a little wet and I noticed all these spots in the freakin road so I got under my bike to look and it was like soaked with gas... I'm like 99.99% sure it's coming from that tube you drain the carburetor with.
