you're all smocking crack,a big bore single 2 stroke revving 9000 rpm?
the zilla rev 7000 rpm at max and peak power is at around 6300-6500 rpm.

Suzuki must be smocking crack too. Like I said the factory service manual gives timing specs for 9000rpm. That wouldn’t make much sense if it could only handle 7000rpm.

Also Ive seen much bigger pistons go faster than 7000rpm.

Here is the page from the Suzuki factory sevive manual that gives timing specs for 9000RPM it also gives the maximum lighting coil output at 8000RPM.

just to give a quick illustration of the power,

i was doing donuts on some sand in 3rd at not much more than tickover, i wore thru the sand (without realising) hit the concrete underneath, the tires grabbed and the quad flipped and threw me off the back,

needles to say i was more shocked than hurt,

i had the zilla dynoed when i got it and it was doing over 20hp on tickover,

as for them having a rev limmiter i dont know, but it seems to find its own limmit i wouldnt worry about whether your going to rev to high from what ive gathered reading around, the carb pipe etc are what imposes the limits on what the engine can do

i think its also got to do with piston velosity as well a big piston cant have the same velosity as a much smaller 1

Suzuki was smoking crack on a lot of things with this motor!
I know what the manual reads, but terminal piston velocity occurs at ~7,200RPM with this motor. I've ran a forged wiseco (Severely lightened) to 8,500RPM many many times with no high-speed come apart... but the original ??? was for a stocker.

With stock porting, pipe, etc. etc. There's no way this motor will rev (*Key words* and still be making power) this high... I think the stock pipe is designed to sign off around 6K.
The ports/head (Squish), etc, etc are not configured to rev this high either.

CATV: the top speed ??? is an exercise of futility... tire diameter, gear ratio's and sprocket combo's can have a huge diff on top speed.... Does top speed even matter? Isn't it more important to understand the change in velocity (Acceleration)????
You will not notice a huge powerband with these... they are more like a very well hung 4 stroke. Gobs of power everywhere in the powerband.

Regards,

its peak hp showed 47.5 but you cant read to much into that cos a different dyno would probably show different hp its a good benchmark for when the RX rebuild is done,

also its worth noting that it naver ran right from getting it and i didnt put it on the dyno to get that corrected, i just wanted it given a quck run and a plug reading taken cos of the difference in fuel in the uk,

since it was run on the dino it went to a shop for some bolt on mods turner pipe v force reeds durablue axle and swaybar Billet ally A Arms, while the guys had it they noticed a stud was missing from the jug, removed it and while checking things over noticed the powervalve was nackered and re built that, So that probably didnt help on the Dyno,

since i had the motor torn down for the RX several Problems Have come to light,

the rods in a poor shape,
the pistons cracked
and theres a crack internaly in the crank case wich they say must have been there when i got it,

so i Supose all things considered i did well to get 47.5 hp out of it,

im just glad i decided to get the Rx done cos it was only a matter of time till it went Bang,

gona be in the shop for about a month cos of getting machining done and waiting for Parts,

its also having all the hubs converted to Z400 as well as an aftermarket Z400 steering stem and beedlockers all round, hopefully carbon fiber, but it will be what ever turns up from white brothers,

engine wise there stuffing a wiseco forged piston and Hot rod in wich will be machined first a few Gear Parts then its down to the porting and RX fixes, its got a cool head fitted already so i guess they will get the dome wittled a bit,

oh yeah i got a laegers swing arm of Ebay and that will be here on monday, and stait off to get chromed,

thats prety much the story so far,
