Quadzilla top speed amd RPM?????

whats the top speed on a basically stock Zilla and what is the peak RPM around with the stock rev limiter? Anybody know where the peak torque is on the RPM range?

Top speed bone stock is 79mph. I don’t think any of the older quads had rev limiters. Not sure about max RPM but the manual gives timing specs for 1000 and 9000 RPM. 9000 RPM is really screaming for that motor so I would bet that’s about it. Don’t know about peak torque.

this will be my first experience with an OLDER two stroke. Without a rev limiter do i have to watch out a lot about how high it goes or should i treat it like the rest of my bikes. even on my wolverine i can hear when it just sounds like the engine is really hurtin and its not a good idea to stay pinned. Just dont want to go F'in up my new zilla

Look, a quadzilla motor DOESN'T rev very high RPMS AT ALL! That is a big bore 2 stroke motor and it doesn't scream like the 250's do. The 500 motor likes to be short shifted instead of letting it rev. The motor has a lot of bottom end and midrange, so I would be surprised if it even revved to 8000RPM. They go fast "when they run." A stock Zilla that is taken care of and tuned well should do 79 to even 80+MPH. There are a lot of factors that can affect top speed, especially on an older 2 stroke that needs to be maintained and tuned often for reliability and performance reasons.

Since the factory service manual gives timing specs for 9000rpm it would not surprise me at all to see it rev to 8000rpm.

Will it still have some powerband snap to it or is it gonna be like my 2 stroke trail bike that barely has a powerband and rides closer to a 4 stroke with a lot more power?

I just bought one yesterday and I will tell you it has more low end than anything else I have ridden. It has some midrange jetting woes right now but I rode it a little anyways. I was going about 10-15 and put it in 5th and it just lugged right along, and I could have ridden around on the dirt roads for a long time like that. However mine isnt stock.
