you'll need to go up a jet size or two if you remove the snorkel i tried it when i got my z and it ran like crap so i put it back on. it will increase power when removed and jetted removeing the lid will be even better but if you ride in wet and muddy conditions i wouldn't even mess with it

Yeah, I took the lid off of my intake box on my Z once and ripped up and down my road a couple times. It sounded GREAT, but ran like total crap lol

I also did the same thing about 2 weeks after I bought my atv.
Its 2am I just got done putting my HMF (full system) pipe on and rejeting and removing the snorkel.
Pain in the butt it was.Its so LOUD lol especialy at 2am,all the dogs started barking and crap so I had to shut it off and test it tomorrow after work.Had to take the radiator fan off and remove the radiator hose to get the blasted stock pipe off. Then the bastard 4 screws that go on the bottom of the carb were on so tight from the factory they started to strip.Took a dremal roto tool it and made a deep flat head in the screw and they finaly came off.Sounds great though...gota test it tomorrow with the new 175 main jet in.Stock was a 130.

Don't take the rejet thing as bad news. The fact that a rejet is needed, shows that the mod is causing a performance improvement!
