LT250R reeds??
#1
i just got my 1990 LT250r back together after having it completely rebuilt and when i rev it the RPMs stay high for a couple of seconds and then it will finally get back to the idle. are my reeds just wearing and staying open?

This might sound weird but I think you have an air leak....or maybe your idle set screw is in just a tad too far.
I wish I had your quad cause I can't find a Laegers LT anywhere......Your Skylers friend right?

my LT is doing the same exact thing and i put new reeds in it thinking that was the problem but it wasn't and i also had the carb cleaned out with acid by a professional. my dad told me it is extra air entering with the already mix fuel/air.

well just get her running at a idle and spray starting fluid in large amounts all over any gaskets and all around where the carb is clamped to the intake and if the engine suddenly revs where you just sprayed you have an air leak.

Yeah, if it's around a gasket, then either replace it or tighten it down a little (dont laugh, it happens) Dont forget about the carburetor top coming loose. That could create an air leak also that would do the same thing.Bubba
