Does anyone have trouble shifting the Z400 because sometimes i try shfiting up it tends to stay in the same gear because i am not moving it enough. i like to shifts by leaving my heel on the peg but that is hard to do because of so much movement to shift. Is there an adjustment to fix it

 

I havent noticed any problem I have a 02. I do notice I tend to miss second whem I get in a big hurry especially dragging. I'll shift and catch nuetral

 

Thats odd because from what I was told and in my own experiences of riding the Z it shifts silky smooth.

 

I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but I'll throw it out there. I had to adjust the shift lever on mine because I got bigger boots. It's really simple. There is one bolt that holds the shift lever to the bike. If you remove the bolt you can take the lever off and rotate it and put it back on. It's splined so you can make pretty accurate adjustments. It sounds like you want will need to adjust the lever down a couple of splines so that your upward movement travels farther.

It did. The earliest editions of the Z actually came out in the fall of 2002, but are technically '03's.

Oh and by the way, no shifting problems here. When my boots weren't fully broken in I had a hard time but now it's as easy as shifting with regular shoes.
