Suzuki Auto Tranny--How reliable?
#1
Suzuki ATV owners,
Please tell me a bit about your auto transmissions. I want an auto.
I intend to run a stock machine with stock tires and do little mud. I like the look of Eiger and the Vinson.
Most people seem to agree that the constantly engaged belt CVTs
like Yamaha uses are very good. Kawasaki seems to need more attention.
No disrespect intended.
Does Suzuki use this constantly engaged type tranny?
I have read about users putting Dalton springs in the Suzuki tranny.
Is this to correct a problem or just because they are running big tires?
Basically, I just want to buy a machine I can have faith in. I don't want to
mess with slipping belts, squeaky belts, free wheeling down steep hills, etc.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

The only time my Eiger belt slipped was after she rolled over in a creek. After replacing all the fluids the belt slipped for a couple mins. but then ran fine. My P360 squeals almost every time. I don't know about the springs but bigger tires would prolly need these. I love this Eiger but I'm 6'2" 250 and it feels a little small, plenty of power tho. The P360 is more my size but not enough power.
You have to try it yourself.
Almost anything you get brand new is going to be great. They all build reliable machines these days. Don't listen to the bashers, they usually have old machines.

Not only was the belt drive, auto tranny in my 2000 Kodiak trouble free for four years, but it had the best engine braking on any quad I have ever ridden. I've had four CVT, belt driven quads, and I've never had a single problem with any of them.
