Sounds like a melted piston. Either the aluminum melted to the sides and the rings dont seal anymore or theres a hole in the top. Have to take it apart to see. How cold is it up there? Here in MN its 15 below.

sounds like a similar senario to what happend to mine, i first took the plug out and there were gobbs of ally on the plug, took it inthe shop to get it properly looked at and the piston skirt had broken off,
due to the paranoia that set in i decided to have my other zillas re build brought forward and it loooks like it was about to go the same way, cracked piston and knackered rod,

well i took a look at the bike today, and first thing i did was check spark, has a great blue spark so it can't be that, next i took the carb of and look at my reeds, they look fine, then i looked at the carb boot, had a crack in it. so i put some epoxy on it , that fixed that put it all back together and steel did not work. So i did a compression test only has 4.1 compression so i checked to see if it had a hole in the pistoin by stinking wiry down the spark plug hole, and it did knot has a hole in the pistion so i think i blowin a gaskit only think i can figure, eney one else have eney ideas.

im no expert but if the carb boot is split wouldnt that create a lean condition??
sory i cant bee much help and the suzuki pages seem to bee realy quiet at the mo,
hope its just the gasket

It's quite obvious what happened. The crack in your carb boot let more air in causing the air in the fuel mixture to be greater; hence a lean condition. This would make your machine run very hot, causing a meltdown or to "blow up". Take apart your topend and see what's the matter with it. If there is any defaults in the pistion, take care of it. Also, what kind of oil are you running? Castor oil is a horrible choice unless you are racing because it tends to gum up the engine terribly. Run a synthetic oil.

Take the tank and plastic off over the motor. Now find yourself a small mirror and a flashlight. Take the sparkplug out and use the mirror/flashlight combo to view the top of the piston. I do it all the time because I'm paranoid.
I'll bet the piston is gone if it went down that quick. Hope not.

having a look in the plug hole will not nesasarily help, i know i said i took the plug out and it had gods of ally on it, but when the top end was taken apart the top of the piston was totaly mint,
whether it turns out to be a gasket problem or somthing more serious the jugs gona have to come off better to just geton with it,
good luck, i feel for you, i realy do
