500 Quadracer Chain adjustment
#1
I just picked up a quadracer over the weekend, and after riding for an hour or so, the chain fell off and got bound up between the frame and the drive sprocket, after getting towed back in, I worked on it and got hte chain out and back in place. THe problem I am having is that I am not sure if there should be a chain tensioner somewhere or not?? The way the chain was on there, it went from sprocket to sprocekt. I have adjusted the rear axle back as far as possible, but the chain still asppears to be loose. I also looked on several websites for a chain tensioner, but found nothing. if there is suppoce to be so kind of tensioner, could some one point me in the right direction to get one?? Thanks in Advance

theres no chain tensioner on mine and as far as i know theres not suposed to be one,
if youve adjusted the chain as far as it will go and theres still to much slack i would presume either someone fitted a chain with too many links or its stretched a hell of a lot,
for saftey sake i would nip out to your dealer and get a new chain,
when ever ive adjusted the chain ive been suprised at how little the housing need to be moved to get back to the correct tension, there is no way i would run a chain for so long that i had pulled the housing back as far as it was physicaly able to move,

MassRider, Do yourself a favor and buy a new master link for your chain, take off a few links on the chain , put on the new master link , line her up and tighten her down. Good to go. If it's a new chain your using , it might be stetching a bit. If its an old chain or a junk chain throw it in the garbage and get a new one. Chains are not as expensive as fixing a hole in your case from a thrown chain.
I have personally seen what a thrown chain can do to a zilla case. Don't buy anything less then a 520 o ring.

Thanks for the input, I am not sure how old the chain is. When looking at it, there is some sort of guide or pulley that the chain should run on just uder the drive sprocket. But mine is in two pieces. I wasn't sure if this is actually wehre the chain rides around. Thnaks for the advise.
