How fast is the lt250r that is bored .40 over. how much acceleration does it have. how good is the suspension is one of the most important things that i want to know. this bike has never been beat on and i can get it off of my neighbor for $1,000. compare this year quad to any other year of another brand quad like the trx250r, 400ex, banshee etc....

MxRat,
The '86 Lt250r is a very good bike. I bought one bonestock 4 years ago and it was an excellent bike. I even had it bored .60 over, FMF pipe and sil., K&N, Boyesen(you get the picture). And it could beat my brother's '86 ATC250r which is virtually the exact motor in the TRX250r. It was very quick, and with a stock rear sprocket and 11 tooth countershaft it would beat my brother's stock Banshee off the line. I only paid $750 for mine, so if you can get it for $1,000 it is a sweet deal. As well the suspension is very good in the rear. You shouldn't ever have to replace it, just rebuild it every so often and maybe buy a different spring than stock depending on your weight. Top speed of a stocker I would have to say is about 60-70 mph, no more. My '87 Lt will beat a 400ex top-speed wise, but I've got about a 'grand aftermarket into her for speed. Hope that helps.

MXRAT,
The 86 QR is a great quad, I had one that I bought new in 86 and it gave me little trouble. The things you want to look for is cracks in the swingarm. The swing arms were aluminum and sometimes will crack. They can be welded and reinforced, the good thing about the 86 swingarm is that it has the cam style chain adjuster which is much easier than the 87 and up models. I have 87 zilla which I built my self and the orignal swing is long gone, i replaced it with lagear built one. Also check all of the bearings in the swingarm and the a-arms most riders hate to take these apart and grease them so the are often spent. Hope this helped she is a good bike and the deal sounds good. See ya in the woods
